A new pair of sneakers at age 26 is just as much fun as a new pair of sneakers at age 8. Sure, most girls love shoes, but sneakers are a different type of fun. I used to love getting a new pair of squeaky clean sneaks at the beginning of every school year. Remember when Pumas were all the rage? And let us not forget Adidas Superstars. And then of course there were the slip-on sneaker variation. (Why?) Oh, memories. My foot size allows me to still get to shop in the kids’ section of Foot Locker (why does Nike not make a womens’ 5?), so at least I can hang onto my youth a little bit.
Today, my only motivation for a new pair of kicks is for fitness purposes. Besides the gym, (a place I will forever have a hard time getting motivated for) I’m trying to take up walking as a real daily activity this fall/winter. The other night I went for a 40-minute walk with my mom and it was lovely. I even collected colorful leaves along the way like a third grader. I didn’t know exactly what I was supposed to do with them once we got back to the house, so I just threw them on the ground. Still fun!
